Hello!

My name is Antonio Yamaguchi, a coach for Sapporo Bonita FC.
Sapporo Bonita FC was founded in 2009.
Currently, 10 staff, about 60 athletes
Age groups are boys U8, U10, U12, and girls U12, U15.

I am from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I came to Japan as a player for a Japanese company’s team.
When I came to Japan for the first time 29 years ago, it was the January of Midwinter in Hokkaido.

In that time, Sapporo only had few soccer facilities that could be used during the winter.
It was my first time in my life to practice in minus 10 degrees.

At that time, Japan had Japanese league “J-League” (semi-professional).
There were regional leagues division 1 and division 2, and below where I used to compete, Hokkaido Regional League.

At the time, the J-League champions, Tokyo Gas, Toshiba, Sumikin used to play in the league that I played in.

While playing in this environment, I was also coaching various ages. I coached local club, university, country school, and regional selection team.

Among them, I was also coaching girls football team.

With the rapid development of women football and futsal, I am trying to raise the level step by step through Bonita FC.

Japanese Women's soccer team won the World Cup while our men team has never won.

And among the winning members of the team, there were three people from Hokkaido.

As a matter of fact, the football environment in Hokkaido is harsh.
In the long winter, football can not be done due to snow so we play futsal with limited facilities.

A place like Brazil has an environment where you can do soccer and futsal at same time.

Both environment in Hokkaido and Brazil are very similar.

Hokkaido is the best place to teach my Brazilian skills-
how to use outsides of feet, techniques to beat the opponent, etc.

The technique of futsal is applied to football, which is very important to many players.

As an example, Ronaldinho’s futsal experiences have inspired his football skills.

Not just playing futsal to adapt Brazilian skills, I also believe playing in actual stage in Brazil will improve many players.

Experiencing football in different country is very important to those who want to become a pro.

So, about once a year, my club is doing football studying abroad in Brazil.
Currently, 20 players from Sapporo Bonita FC have experienced this program. And out of them, there are 6 female players.

Also, as other activities
We also hold a shooting school , open for anyone, to improve players by focusing on their shooting skills.
A player will be able to strengthen their shots by learning various ways to shoot: loop shot, Inside shot, in-step shot, etc.

The big difference with Brazil football from Japan is that they focus more on individual tactics rather than group tactics.
Additionally, a great player like Neymar ,who always entertain the audience with his great skills, gets better by making mistakes.

Like my shooting school, the players improve their shooting skills by making ton of mistakes. And I like seeing players getting used to things that they didn’t when they first joined the club.

I believe that my activities with this club will inspire others in someway.
